For London 's Gay community the opening of Village Soho in 1991 was a milestone in the history of Gay London. The Village was groundbreaking in its look, style and has been an influence behind the way Soho looks ever since. For the Gay community of pre-1991 there was little choice of attractive places to go and socialise that were Gay. This all changed with the opening of the Village in December 1991, and with it a change in style culture that predominates today's London 's Gay scene.

The Village was, and still is riding high as one of the City's premier Gay bars, and is responsible for placing Old Compton Street firmly on the Gay map of London . "The Village" rapidly became the by-word for a good night out where you could meet friends (old and new) in cool and civilised surroundings, attended by cute staff, and a full diverse crowd.

Over the years there have been hundreds of thousands of happy customers to grace the Village's portals including the likes of Graham Norton, Take That,  Michelle Collins and Boy George and most recently Martine McCutcheon and Jason Donovan dueting to rapturous applause in our now famous V Underground karaoke night (every Tuesday night, starting 25th April).

The Village staff has a reputation for being helpful and friendly, and for this reason many first timers out on the scene or our international friends visiting London come to the Village to enjoy a drink and relax in it's comfortable surroundings.
